Kia ora

I am an experienced psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologists’ Board, and a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.

I was part of a Community Mental Health team in the Far North of Aotearoa New Zealand for more than 20 years before beginning my private practice.

I have worked with a wide range of adults and young people, with many different reasons for seeking help and support (including stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues, life changes, substance use issues, etc).

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology
    University of Auckland (2005)
  • Master of Arts (MA) in Psychology with First Class Honours
    University of Auckland
    (1999)
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology
    University of Auckland
    (1997)
  • Registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board since 2006
  • Member of the New Zealand Psychological Society since 2006

My goal is to help people to work through the difficulties they experience, make sense of them, and eventually grow from them. I aim to assist people to create rich, full, meaningful lives, by focusing on what truly matters to them, to make the most of their strengths and potential. I draw upon a range of evidence-based psychological approaches in my work (primarily acceptance and commitment (ACT) therapy), depending on each person’s needs and preferences.

As well as having worked in a clinical team for many years, I am also experienced in working with emergency services, veterans, primary care clients (referred directly by their GPs) and those receiving support through workplace employee assistance programmes (EAP, such as Telus Health, Clearhead and InStep). In addition, I have experience in providing professional/clinical supervision.

Prana Cottage

I am originally from South Auckland. I have lived in the beautiful Far North for 25 years and my children have grown up here. My therapy room is in Kaitaia (for face-to-face sessions) but I am happy to offer zoom or phone sessions (or similar) to whoever would prefer this option.

  • Sessions cost $200 (including GST).
  • There is no charge for sessions that are cancelled more than 24 hours ahead of the scheduled appointment time.
  • There is a 50% charge for sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
  • Sessions that are neither cancelled nor attended will be charged full price (as it means that the appointment time was not able to offered to anyone else).

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. You may even be eligible for some funded sessions.
